I’m excited to share my latest news about my art quilt, Harmony and Happiness, it has been accepted into the 2017 World Quilt New England competition. It was a huge step for me to enter the competition since the only competitions I have ever entered thus far have been local. The show will be in Manchester, New Hampshire August 17-19. I do not expect to place but I am excited to hear what critique I will get from International judges. Putting your work on display for the art quilt world to see can be very intimidating. My friends at ACA Focus on Fiber encouraged me to try it. I’m glad they did and maybe I’ll try it again, after all, receiving the acceptance letter was super exciting! I can only post a snippet of the quilt at this point.
I am an artist and my preferred medium is textiles. I currently teach traditional quilting however, artistic manipulation of fabrics and fibers is my real passion.
I have won awards for several quilt piecing techniques and art quilts, including thread painting. I love to paint, dye, and color fabric using fabric paints, inks, screen printing, mono-printing, rust, sun activated dyes, sun printing, air pens, etc... .
