Christmas Quilts were hung by the chimney with care or used for snuggling in hopes that Saint Nick would soon be there. T-shirt quilts (5) were all wrapped in packages with bows. While the hmmm of sewing machines finished four patch quilts before the clock struck 12. The ladies (little elves) did an awesome job finishing 2 quilts in less than 12 weeks, from reading the pattern, choosing their fabrics, piecing, quilting, binding and finally labeling their finished masterpieces. Oh what fun we had cutting, piecing, quilting and binding! And I heard as I turned out the classroom light, “Merry Christmas to all” and “I’ll be up all night”!
Below are a few snapshots of the students final projects.
I am an artist and my preferred medium is textiles. I currently teach traditional quilting however, artistic manipulation of fabrics and fibers is my real passion.
I have won awards for several quilt piecing techniques and art quilts, including thread painting. I love to paint, dye, and color fabric using fabric paints, inks, screen printing, mono-printing, rust, sun activated dyes, sun printing, air pens, etc... .
